This month we’re excited to welcome Guy Cheval, co-founder of Wattson Audio, all the way from Switzerland, for an evening of listening on the compact Madison hi-fi system, followed by a Q&A. Save the date: Thursday 16th July, 6pm-9pm.
We've also added fresh arrivals to our Pre-owned section, alongside new products including Dynavector's updated XV Ultima & XV Prima Moving Coil Turntable Cartridges, the new Aska, REL Acoustics’ wall-mounted Planar and T/5x Subwoofers, plus the superb new Exposure 5510 pre-amplifier. Book a demo and come and hear them for yourself.
Elsewhere, we've been enjoying Jarvis Cocker's recent 6Music Someday Service into Hansa Studios, Berlin, the home of classics from Bowie, Iggy Pop and Nick Cave, while DJ Shadow's landmark Endtroducing...celebrates its 30th anniversary with a BBC Symphony Orchestra performance at the Barbican.
And finally, keep an eye out later this year for our new series, Six Figure Habit, where I'll be joined in the listening room by icons of British hi-fi and music culture for conversation, lots of stories, and plenty of inspired music selections!
See you soon,
Dean

Music & CultureHansa Studios, Berlin, 1976-90
Jarvis Cocker dedicated part of his 6Music Sunday “Someday Service” radio show to Hansa Studios, Berlin, whose sound shaped classics like Iggy Pop's The Idiot and Bowie's Heroes. He plays Helden, the German-language version of the title track.
Listen to Tupelo by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, where Hansa's huge main room really makes itself heard - listen from around 33 minutes in.
We also recommend a great documentary, Hansa Studios: By the Wall 1976-90. Check it out here.
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing at 30…
DJ Shadow's Endtroducing, built entirely from samples and sequenced within an Akai MPC60 MkII, turns 30 this year. To mark the anniversary, Josh Davis, aka DJ Shadow is teaming up with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican to reimagine the album. Orchestral reworkings seem to be the thing right now!
