Linn LP12 FAQs
Linn Sondek LP12 Turntable
-
The LP12 is built as a modular turntable, so every level shares the same core design philosophy. As you move up through Majik, Selekt, and Klimax, the component quality improves: the sub-chassis, tonearm, cartridge, phono stage, and power supply are upgraded piece by piece. The result is a progressively quieter, more detailed and more dynamic sound at each level, without ever changing what an LP12 fundamentally is.
-
Yes, and this is one of the LP12’s biggest strengths. Because it’s built as a modular platform, you can swap out individual components over time as your budget allows, rather than buying your way into the top tier from day one. Many of our customers build their system up gradually this way. We have a Linn expert, Alan, who can install the upgrades and service your current LP12 at our shop in North London.
-
Genuinely, yes. Each level, and individual upgrade brings audible improvements in detail, timing and the quietness of the background. That said, the right starting point depends on your ears, your room and your budget, which is exactly why we’d always recommend a demo in our listening room or at your home before deciding.
-
It depends on the configuration. Some LP12 setups include a built-in phonostage (like the Urika II, fitted inside the turntable), while others need an external one. We can talk through what your specific setup needs. Give Dean a call on: 020 8440 9509
