What music best suits the dCS LINA DAC X?
We use the dCS LINA DAC X as our reference in the demo room, and it comes into its own with complex music - particularly jazz & electronica. From “Bitches Brew” by Miles Davis to “Syro” by Aphex Twin, it can handle dense, layered recordings with ease. On lesser digital sources, these tracks can often sound congested and overwhelming. With the DAC X, the presentation remains open and controlled, allowing each element to breathe and sit clearly within the mix.

We’ve found that dCS products have the ability to reveal space and structure within a musical composition. Individual layers are clearly defined, creating a three-dimensional soundstage - you’re completely drawn into the music. Listening to one of our go-to demo albums, “In Rainbows” by Radiohead, you can hear that each of the band members is precisely placed in the soundstage, making it easy to focus on separate parts without losing sense of the whole.
With more Ambient / IDM LPs such as “Amber” by Autechre or “Music Has the Right to Children” by Boards of Canada, the DAC X remains engaging even at lower listening levels. Metallic textures, which can often sound harsh or fatiguing on the ear, are instead delivered with finesse.
