A phono stage begins with an extraordinarily small signal—and with the responsibility to preserve everything it contains. At this scale, noise, gain architecture, and input design are not secondary considerations; they define how much of the original musical information survives.
Madison Phono approaches that task with three purpose-designed input options for moving-magnet, low-impedance moving-coil, and DS Audio optical cartridges. Each is engineered specifically for the electrical demands of its cartridge type, rather than asking a single input topology to accommodate them all.
Madison Phono's analogue circuitry amplifies the cartridge signal before conversion to 32-bit/384 kHz DXD, at a resolution exceeding that of the mastering formats from which vinyl records are typically produced. Equalisation is then performed in the digital domain with exceptional precision.
